I sent some old gold necklaces that have been passed down in my family that no one wanted. I checked with a pawn shop first to get them appraised and they offered $450 cash for them right there but it seemed low to me so I found Sell Your Gold instead. They claimed to pay a lot and had a video (that I now see is YEARS old and is probably just done by there local friend!!) saying it was tested, but it’s just FALSE. They offered me $177 or something for all that gold… less than half of even the pawn shop. I had them send it back which STIll took a couple weeks. Stay away from this company … read more ->
No human contact at all! Had to create and log onto to my account with Sell Your Gold to view the offer within 24 hours of receiving an email from them, otherwise they would just send the payment and keep my gold. The offer was low so I refused it, then someone finally contacted me. Took me almost a month to get my gold back.

First offer I got by email was for $99.40. According to their website’s video, that’s about 40% of the daily spot gold price. Rejected that and then got a call from a very pleasant rep with a second offer for $150.

Maybe you saw the Cash 4 Gold Super Bowl commercial, the one with MC Hammer and Ed McMahon. Maybe it occurred to you that there has to be a catch. Would someone who receives your gold in the mail actually give you a decent price? Of course not. With Cash 4 Gold you’ll be lucky to get a third the price you’d receive at a pawn shop.
As a former Cash 4 Gold employee suggests, the whole operation is a scam.
[Update: I got an e-mail from a Cash 4 Gold PR hound criticizing me for having “false and defamatory information” on my blog because I posted the former employees commentary in full. You know you’ve got rip-off artists on … read more ->
I am a small trader, on 15/09/09 the gold I had, using the value quoted on cashforyo0urgold’s website I was looking to receive £5106. I took it to their office, I was greeted by a friendly chap, they try to act like your best friend, offering cigarettes etc while I was waiting… After a short while, the gold had been evaluated, and I was quoted £4630… I was shocked and asked for my gold back, the chap says he will speak to his boss and see if they can do anything… he came back some 10 minutes later and increased the valuation to £4800, I was still out of pocket and demanded my money back… the chap said no worries, … read more ->
Kathy McGovern of Sugar Grove, Illinois stated, “I sent my jewelry into Cash4Gold including a 14 Karat Gold Ring with a quarter diamond, a 14 Karat Gold Chain and Cross, a 14 Karat Bracelet. I weighed my before I sent it in and it came to 1.8 ozs. I received $98 dollars for them. By the time I received the check t was too late to get my jewelry back. It’s really a shame in these economic times that company would bluntly rip people off.” Her entire testimonial can be read here.
After some more digging I came across someone claiming to be an ex-employee of Cash4Gold that shared how the entire process allegedly works at XComplaints.com. He states that … read more ->
I sent my Jewelry into Cash4Gold including a 14 Karat Gold ring with a quarter diamond, a 14 Karat Gold Chain and Cross, a 14 Karat Bracelet. I weighed my jewelry up before I sent it in and it came to 1.8 ozs. I received $98.00 dollars from them. By the time I received the check it was too late to get my jewelry back. It’s really a shame in these economic times that a company would bluntly rip people off. I wish I would have seen the CBS 2 Chicago News special report before I had sent my gold in to these people. How can celebrities promote these people. Please put a stop to them.… read more ->
I saw an ad on TV about Cash 4 Gold buying old gold jewelry. The people in the commercial indicated they got good money for sending in their old gold jewelry. I logged in to the website and sked for a refiners return kit. I got the kit quickly and sent in my old gold jewelry. After a couple of weeks I got a check from them for $37.12, a fraction of the value of what I sent in. I called in and was told my jewelry had not been melted down yet and if I returned the check within 10 days I would get my original jewelry returned. I did return the check, it has been 10 days and … read more ->
Cash4Gold.com is a big Scam! A few months ago, I saw the commercials and without doing my research, sent some of my wife’s gold pieces she didn’t want anymore because we were short on cash for bills. I expected around 1000$ for that gold, understanding that I would get pay for the Scrap Value, even though the jewelry was not broken.
I got a check for 79.21$!! I tried to use their Guarantee and get the gold pieces back, and was unsuccessful! It was impossible to get a hold of them. I drove 3 hours to their address listed on their website and found what seemed to be an empty warehouse! Someone needs to stop … read more ->
With unemployment up, the price of gold hitting $1000 an ounce in the last thirty days, and many people outright “spooked” by the economy, you may be thinking it’s a good time to unload some gold jewelry. Maybe a few rings from your college years? A necklace from the 1980’s that just isn’t in style anymore? Or even a family heirloom that you’ve never been fond of. If that’s what you’re thinking, then there are lots of people ready to talk to you. Unfortunately, not all of them are scupulous.
Scammers are on the gold-buying circuit, promising everything from “the highest per ounce price being paid” to “overnight cash back.” ”It’s easy,” they say, to “turn Jewelry into CASH” like … read more ->
